"Spirituality is learning about life by continuously searching for truth. It's about connecting to life in all its unexpected forms."
- Nesya

Who is Nesya Rusiyanadi?

Who I am, is not anything I can put down in words easily. You and I are essences.

I believe that we are part of the essence that is the universe. I believe that God is the nature that created the universe and at the same time is the universe itself. At one point, our souls chose to come here to Earth to learn from Earthly experiences and simultaneously contribute to the growth and the evolution of the Earth.

However, let me set aside my philosophical musings and get to the point. You want to know who I am and how I discovered me. You probably have a sense already of who I am just by browsing through my website or Google, or just through your inner senses. If you are interested in my description about myself, please continue reading. Or click on my professional bio for information about my academic life and skills.

Meaning of 'Nesya'

According to my Dad, my name comes from the Quran. He extracted it from the Arabian name ‘an-Nisa’, which he translates and summarizes freely as ‘a girl with a kind-hearted disposition‘.

In Hebrew, Nesya means ‘miracle of God‘. Also, my name comes from ‘Indonesia’, with ‘nesia’ meaning ‘islands’ in Greek. This one I can really relate to, as I’m my own little private world and at the same time somehow connected to all of it.

‘Ganesha’, my semi-namesake, means ‘god of the people’. Ganesha is also a remover of obstacles, god of the beginnings and deva of intellect and wisdom, which I can also relate to.

I am East meets West

I was born in the Netherlands from Indonesian parents.

I’ve lived in Amsterdam most of my life. I learned that there were significant differences between the culture at home and outside the house. The main difference I noticed was that I didn’t feel as tough as the outside world. Sometimes, people would comment on how ‘soft’ I was, so it made me feel that being shy or nice wouldn’t get me anywhere in the Dutch culture.

In opposition, shyness was very much appreciated in the Indonesian culture. Being calm or shy gave me more positive attention than I got in the Netherlands for ‘not opening my mouth’. I have learned about the differences between cultures and the things that connect us.

When studying tai chi in my early twenties, I learned a lot about the Eastern and Western philosophies and how yin and yang are interrelated. In my life, I’ve integrated both cultures in myself by accepting what fits me and release what doesn’t. I realized that the answer for the search of home doesn’t lie in culture or location, but in my Self. Home is where I’m able to accept who I am completely.

I am a student

Learning is one of my hobbies.

Perhaps fed by my mother, who always had a book in one hand, and a father who taught us to be the best we could be, I had this curiosity about life and anything I was learning. In almost every course I ever did, I always felt I actually belonged in the advanced class, because I already knew so much about the subject or exercise by studying it, practicing it or reading about it in all the free time I had. I would absorb myself in all the knowledge I could find about it and practice it until my muscle or my brain memory was satiated.

Since reading was one of my learning methods, it wasn’t too hard for me in school. I’d been a student until my mid 30s, with three different diplomas in one pocket and a lot more knowledge that wasn’t credited in the other ones.

As learning is my hobby, it divides into several subhobbies (probably not a word…)…I love writing (in general, from lists to songs), sometimes in combination with my guitar. I love swimming to stretch my body and mind, doing yoga or kettlebell exercises to wake up in the morning and meditation to clear myself or connect to the unknown. I’ve danced traditional Balinese dances since I was a teenager and love practicing with my friends, who are my second family, and to perform. I’ve also practiced tai chi and studied the Chinese philosophy.

My soul energy has been described as calm, light, serene, great, pure, honest, patient, intelligent, holistic, creative, spiritual, in touch with nature and an attentive listener.”

I am a teacher

I never thought I would present or speak in public, being the shy girl I was. However, nowadays it comes naturally to speak, as long as I can choose my own words or let them flow through me.

The first time I thought I wanted to become a teacher was when I was about 6 years old and I asked my Dad for a blackboard. I wanted to teach my brother and sister to read and to practice calculations. I’ve never really chosen to become a teacher on purpose, but in hindsight, there were signs that would lead me to become one. In university, I did a course on ‘Train the trainer’, which placed me completely outside my comfort zone but taught me a lot. Since 2016 I’ve also tutored children and babysat.

Nowadays, I have plenty of experience standing in front of people, teaching a workshop or guiding a meditation and I sincerely enjoy it. In the past, I couldn’t imagine shy, little Nesya doing this type of work. Now, I can’t imagine myself never doing it anymore. I can’t wait to just let the energy go through me to connect to even more people so they can learn even more about who they are.

I am Highly Sensitive

I am capable of perceiving energies beyond the material world.

Very early in life, I was aware that I was sensing life differently from people around me. But it wasn’t until my early twenties, under the care of my Spiritual therapist, that I understood I was highly sensitive. It took me a few years to understand what it was and to review my past from a different perspective.

Nowadays, I don’t necessarily use this label, because I have learned to transform the challenges I had being a high sensitive. However, it does cover part of who I am. It reminds me that I am a being, sensitive to her own emotions and those of others. I am capable of perceiving energies beyond the material world. I am capable of sensing the collective energy in this world, of transmuting and transforming it. I am capable of communicating with the unseen world. Remembering these things, helps me in accepting who I am.

I am Highly Gifted

I am capable of connecting, organising and structuring worlds and energies.

It wasn’t until a few years ago that one of my clients pointed out to me that he thought I was highly gifted. I’d never thought I was, since the meaning of high giftedness was the same to me as to most people: being highly intelligent on an intellectual level. Little did I know that high giftedness also had to do with your personal development and high sensitivity.

Only recently, have I understood the connection between high sensitivity and high giftedness. This knowledge has given me a more complete and holistic sense of my Self. Although I have yet to study the theories of high giftedness (I have my own theory about what it is…which is probably a quality of high giftedness), intuitively, it makes sense to me to that I am highly gifted in combination with my high sensitivity. I see this in how I am able to integrate, incorporate and create on a multiple levels. If this makes any sense…

I am a Soul Senser

I am able to integrate all of my physical and intuitive senses to perceive the essence of vibrations from Source.

One of the skills I learned being highly sensitive, is sensing energies. Around me, in me, from people, trees, animals, anything I focus on. I taught myself (or my surroundings taught me) to focus on the essence of the energy. This essence is like a center in which I get information about who or what someone is essentially, their soul essence, and how they are right now in their lives. Sometimes these two energies clash, and someone gets stuck or experiences a contrast.

The highly sensitive and highly gifted part in me are united in the Soul Senser; as a Soul Senser I have an overview of the energies I perceive intuitively, while being able to communicate about and with it in detail. A Soul Senser is able to focus their vibration on different vibrations around them. I love being a Soul Senser and become one with Earth and her natural cycles.

I am a Healer

When I was in elementary school, off to school, I imagined that I could control the elements. I would play with the wind through my hands. My intention would bring the sun out or increase the temperature from these lower lands to a more comfortable warmth.

When I practiced tai chi, qigong and the Chinese philosphy of life, intensely in my early twenties, I noticed that I was able to generate a lot of energy during my trainings. It was only when I studied Spiritual therapy, that I discovered I was a natural healer and able to not only perceive energy consciously, but also use techniques to influence energies internally and around me. My active imagination as a young human being wasn’t odd after all!

Nowadays, not a day goes by that I perceive and/or heal. I’ve learned a lot of healing techniques throughout the years, during my studies and from books. The only techniques I use now are my imagination and intention. When you imagine it, it exists. No doubt.

The only techniques I use now for healing are my imagination, intention and curiosity.

I am a Starseed

A Starseed is a Soul living on Earth that is originally from other realms in this immense Universe. Starseeds have lived many lives in different parts of different galaxies at different times.

How do I know I am a Starseed? I just know I’m not from the Earth (but who is, right?). And throughout my life, I’ve discovered pieces of the puzzle of who I’ve been and who I am in other places. Through spiritual growth and curiosity, by learning to develop my intuitive and healing skills, I get information about who I am and what my purpose is.

I believe that time and space are only divided and in a typical speed here on Earth. I, myself, am able to go beyond time and space and remember who I am in former and future lives anywhere else.

I believe you can as well.

As a Starseed, I am connected to the Universe and able to perceive a larger portion about the Universal laws and truths.

What else?

In addition, I am curious about people and life. I want to understand how the universe works. I’m a searcher of truth. I believe that there is a universal truth and that the more we are connected to ourselves and the ways of the universe, the more we uncover these truths and the more we can work together with the universal laws to make our dreams come true. I am sometimes still a little girl, afraid of the world and people, not understanding why they can’t understand me. At other times, I am a strong and confident woman, ready to lead the herd into a new society. I am a channel through which universal (and sometimes ancient) information comes through. I am a human being and a Soul.

Together, we perceive different parts of a Universal truth. Let’s listen to each other, share them and learn the essence of life.

Professional bio in short

To you, who are curious about my academic life:

In 1999, I graduated from the high school Pieter Nieuwland College with a set of exact subjects. I continued my studies at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), where I graduated in 2006 with a Masters in Psychology. I specialized in cognitive psychology, which was all about learning and the brain. For my graduation projects, I wrote a thesis on verbal overshadowing, made an online face recognition test and set up a research to investigate grapheme-colour synesthesia.

In 2008, I decided to do another Masters at Wageningen University (WUR) in Wageningen, the Netherlands, which was the Masters Nutrition & Health. I graduated in 2012 specialised in Nutrition in Health and Disease, with a project on multicultural questionnaires for the HELIUS project and a thesis about the vitamin A content of different species of cassava in Kenya.

While studying in Wageningen, I also studied Spiritual therapy at the Academy of Spiritual Integration (ASPI) in Krommenie, the Netherlands. For my thesis, I investigated the emotions behind the human. I graduated in 2015 and decided to become a spiritual entrepreneur.

I’ve also had jobs as a research assistant, nutritional assistant, scientific researcher, home care helper, tutor, babysitter and substitute teachers for tai chi and yoga.

Skills set

All these studies and jobs have made me skilled at the following and more:

  • conducting research.
  • writing for scientific research but also informally.
  • being with other human beings.
  • teaching adults as well as children.
  • energy work: reading, perceiving and communicating about energy and influencing it through transformation, transmutation and emotions.
  • communicating with other human beings, just talking and listening, informally as well as professionally, but also through more scientific methods such as interviewing.
  • organising and bringing structure into information.
  • roaming my inner realms through meditation.
